The Arts Society UK

THE ARTS SOCIETY is comprised of Member Societies in the UK and abroad that aim to promote the appreciation and study of the Decorative and Fine Arts in their widest sense and to stimulate interest in the preservation of the British and European cultural heritage.

Our events provide welcoming places – locally, nationally and globally – to hear expert lecturers share their specialist knowledge about the arts.

More than 90,000 members contribute to and preserve our artistic heritage through volunteering and grants.

Our strength is our people, joined together by a passion for the arts which can nourish and empower us all. Our work creates a better, healthier and more connected society.

The first Society was founded in Buckinghamshire, England in 1965 by the late Patricia Fay, OBE and there are now over 370 Societies with almost 100,000 members worldwide. Membership of a Society provides an opportunity to study Decorative and Fine Arts by means of illustrated lectures delivered in English by experts in their chosen fields.

Each society organizes its own series of lectures. Lecturers are recommended by the Arts Society for their proven academic knowledge of their subject and their communication skills.

A in-house magazine is distributed three times a year.
